Safety & Health Training Course Types

  • Basic Awareness Training – This program provides participants with knowledge related to each topic covered by AGC of California.  Participants will be able to recognize basic hazards associated with each topic.
  • Competent Person – A Competent Person is one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in their surroundings or working conditions, which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees. The Competent Person has the authority to impose prompt corrective measures to eliminate these hazards. Once this training has been completed, it will be up to each employer to determine the Competent Person designation at each of their jobsites.  Individuals completing this training may need to further demonstrate to their employer that they are capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards.  The employer must ensure that the Competent Person has authority to impose prompt corrective measures to eliminate the hazards.  AGC of California Competent Person Training does not give authority; only employers may do so following participation in the training program.
  • Qualified Person – A Qualified Person is designated by the employer, and by reason of training, experience, or instruction has demonstrated the ability to safely perform all assigned duties. When required, a Qualified Person is properly licensed in accordance with federal, state, or local laws and regulations.
