Suicide Prevention Awareness

Mental health, safety and the overall well-being of our workforce are key concerns for AGC of California and its members. September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and we would like to take the opportunity to provide resources to help employers assist workers who may be suffering from suicidal ideation.

Suicide, mental illness and substance abuse disorders, sometimes intrinsically linked, disproportionally present in workers in the construction industry. AGC of California’s Safety & Health Council has prepared a Suicide Prevention Awareness Toolkit to provide resources necessary for educating your teams on warning signs and resources on a difficult, and sometimes frightening, topic.

AGC of California is leading the way to prepare our industry for long-term sustainable growth and ensure everyone in the industry understands that their well-being is of the utmost importance in our efforts to build California.

If you or someone you know needs immediate assistance, please contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by simply dialing 988. The lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress and prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones.
