Legislative Activities

AGC of California has a proven track record of promoting and protecting contractors and service providers interests and practices through its Legislative and Government Affairs program. In addition, contractors’ interests are represented at the local and national level to ensure that California’s contractors and its related service providers are given every opportunity to grow and succeed. With a team of professional advocates located in Sacramento, AGC is the “voice of the construction industry”.

Project Labor Agreements
AGC of California (AGC) believes that if a government agency is going to implement a mandated labor agreement, the contractor must be at the table to provide practical and real-world input on how construction projects are actually managed and executed for the benefit of the agency.

Skilled and Trained Workforce Requirements
January 1, 2020 brings new requirements for Skilled and Trained workforce on selected public works jobs. Existing Skilled and Trained Workforce Requirements in state code require that apprentices on specified public works jobs be enrolled in a state certified apprenticeship program or are journeymen with either a certificate of completion from a certified apprenticeship program or have a record of sufficient hours in their apprenticeable trade to have completed a graduated from an apprenticeship program.
