S.I.R. Achievement Award
This award honors Skill, Integrity and Responsibility. To be eligible, the individual may be from the public or private sector and must have made an outstanding contribution to California’s construction industry. No employee or member of the association shall be eligible for the S.I.R. Award.
Associate Achievement Award
This award honors the hard work and dedication of exceptional AGC of California Associate Members. To be eligible, an Associate Member must have been engaged in providing a product or service to the construction industry for a minimum of 15 years, be an AGC of California member in good standing or member-in-retirement. Qualified nominees will have made a significant contribution to the construction industry and be held in esteem by his/her peers.
Specialty Contractor Achievement Award
This award recognizes the significant contributions to AGC of California and the construction industry by individual member specialty contractors. To be eligible, a person must have worked in the construction industry for a minimum of 15 years, be an AGC of California member in good standing or a member-in-retirement of the AGC of California and be held in esteem by his/her peers. No Past President of the AGC of California shall be eligible for this award.
Contractor Achievement Award
This award recognizes the significant contributions to AGC of California and the construction industry by individual member contractors. To be eligible, a person must have worked in the construction industry for a minimum of 25 years, be an AGC of California member in good standing or a member-in-retirement and be held in esteem by his/her peers. No AGC of California Past President shall be eligible for this award.
2024 Achievement Award Winners
Associate Achievement Award
Robert Roginson, Shareholder, Ogletree Deakins
Robert Roginson, a shareholder in Ogletree Deakins’ Los Angeles office and chair of its Trucking and Logistics Industry Group, is an expert in California and federal wage and hour laws. Robert focuses a significant portion of his practice to counseling and representing contractors, developers, and construction suppliers regarding union labor relations and state and federal prevailing wage laws, including the federal Service Contract Act and Davis-Bacon Act. From 2007 to 2010, Robert served as chief counsel for the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE), where he interpreted labor laws and managed litigation. He also wrote the DLSE amicus brief in the landmark Brinker case, establishing standards for meal periods under California law. Robert worked in AGC of California’s Industrial Relations Department while attending law school and regularly advised and represented contractor members on union labor issues. He has maintained his relationship with AGC of California, providing guidance on prevailing wage and labor policy. His key contributions include negotiating amendments to AB-1851 (Rivas), protecting contractors’ interests, and reinforcing prevailing wage coverage. His expertise continues to guide AGC of California’s advocacy team, particularly around construction trucking and prevailing wage issues.
Specialty Contractor Achievement Award
Henry Nutt III, Preconstruction Executive, Southland Industries
Henry Nutt III, a preconstruction executive at Southland Industries, is a respected figure in the construction industry, serving as a sheet metal general superintendent. He’s served on the AGC of California State Board of Directors and as AGC of America’s past chair for the Diversity & Equity Steering Committee. He was instrumental in AGC of California’s Task Force and DE&I Steering Committee. Henry has progressed from an apprentice to an executive, becoming a thought leader, author, international speaker, and advocate for the future construction workforce. Henry’s advocacy extends to industry and workforce development, contributing to pre-apprenticeship programs, promoting Lean construction, and providing specialty contractor insights. As board chair of the Lean Construction Institute, he leads a task force that encourages the adoption of lean construction practices for trade partners. His work in mentoring, advocating for best practices, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), and promoting construction careers makes him a national role model in the industry. Henry’s book, “Seven Principles: Creating Your Success in the Construction Industry,” serves as a workforce development model. It is used as a training resource in pre-apprenticeship and readiness programs. Committed to fostering inclusive, efficient, and safe work environments, Henry empowers individuals for successful, sustainable construction careers.
S.I.R. Achievement Award
Raymond Tritt, Deputy Division Chief of Construction, Caltrans
Raymond Tritt is the outgoing deputy division chief of construction for Caltrans and has led a distinguished career at Caltrans for over 35 years. Known around the corridors as the “godfather” of alternative delivery within Caltrans, he has used his expertise in transportation policy and alternative procurement to help design specifications that capture the Department’s goals as well as address concerns of industry. Involved in several joint industry and agency committees, Raymond has been able to help bridge the gap between agency and industry by helping push the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) on Caltrans projects, improving value engineering change proposals (VECP), reducing issues in prompt payment, and addressing concerns around DBEs. As a graduate of the University of California, Davis and prior to his role as deputy division chief of construction, Raymond spent 16 years as the chief of the Office of Innovative Design and Delivery within the Division of Design, where he implemented the design-build demonstration program (2010) and the construction manager/general contractor (CMGC) pilot program in 2012. He helped to secure additional design-build authority in 2013 and unlimited CMGC authority in 2018.
Contractor Achievement Award
Aaron Yohnke, President, California Buildings, PCL Construction
Aaron Yohnke started out in the construction industry over 25 years ago in his family’s general contracting business. He now holds an executive leadership role at PCL Construction where he oversees a large region with a significant range of projects. His journey through various positions at the company showcases his strategic vision and ability to inspire teams to achieve excellence.
At PCL Construction, Aaron has overseen diverse California projects, including educational infrastructure, airport development, sports venue transformations, and community development projects. His leadership is marked by a commitment to safety and mental health, exemplified by his role in a mental health awareness initiative in California. Recognized as one of the “Top 20 Professionals under 40” by Engineering News Record magazine in 2019, Aaron is actively involved with construction associations and charities. He serves on the Los Angeles District Board of Directors as well as the State Board of Directors for AGC of California and supports young professionals in the industry, showcasing his dedication to cultivating future leaders.
