Safety & Health Training Course Types
- Basic Awareness Training – This program provides participants with knowledge related to each topic covered by AGC of California. Participants will be able to recognize basic hazards associated with each topic.
- Competent Person – A Competent Person is one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in their surroundings or working conditions, which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees. The Competent Person has the authority to impose prompt corrective measures to eliminate these hazards. Once this training has been completed, it will be up to each employer to determine the Competent Person designation at each of their jobsites. Individuals completing this training may need to further demonstrate to their employer that they are capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards. The employer must ensure that the Competent Person has authority to impose prompt corrective measures to eliminate the hazards. AGC of California Competent Person Training does not give authority; only employers may do so following participation in the training program.
- Qualified Person – A Qualified Person is designated by the employer, and by reason of training, experience, or instruction has demonstrated the ability to safely perform all assigned duties. When required, a Qualified Person is properly licensed in accordance with federal, state, or local laws and regulations.

Your registration for training signifies your acceptance of the following policies:
Cancellation Policy:
To receive a refund for your registration fees, we must obtain a written cancellation request from you at least three calendar days prior to the scheduled training. In this scenario, your fees will be returned to you, although a 10% processing fee will be deducted. Please note that we are unable to refund any cancellation requests made less than three calendar days before the training.
AGC of California is dependent on meeting certain enrollment minimums, which may fluctuate depending on the instructor. We strive to achieve these minimums, but there may be instances when this is not feasible. If this results in a course being postponed or canceled by AGC of California, we will do our best to inform attendees as promptly as possible and will provide a complete refund of registration fees.
Transfer Policy: On an individually approved basis, registrants who must cancel enrollment due to extenuating circumstances may transfer their registration to a future training session, provided the same course is already scheduled within the calendar year. Transfers are assessed a 10% processing fee.
Substitution Policy: Registered attendees who must cancel their participation may request a substitute to attend in their place at any time. The request must be sent in writing by the original registrant to training@agc-ca.org before the session begins.
As of 6/1/23, all payments made by credit card are assessed a 3% processing fee, which is also stated on all AGC of California invoices. If you need a copy of your receipt for expense reports, email training@agc-ca.org include the date of training (if applicable) and the course name.
